CD Art Display
GROUP INFO
as a desktop application CD Art Display (aka CAD) was created to be a highly customizable and skinnable interface to show an album cover for the track that's currently playing in your media player (i.e. Winamp, iTunes, Windows Media Player, Foobar2000 etc.).
as a group #CD-Art-Display is meant to put a roof over an ever increasing amount of skinners, fans, contributors, addicts and all sorts of other supporters, which then would provide them with latest news & announcements, skins, tutorials & resources, help, contacts, contests, inspiration and many things more that are in any way related to the app CD Art Display.
we -the staff of #CD-Art-Display- have created a platform where a community could stay in touch with skinners and developers (.. and of course other friends and supporters) as well as the overall progress of a cool little app.
since the CD Art Display communitiy is already very large (while still growing) here on deviantART, it is our goal to encourage each and every one of our fans to join this group and hereby give them something they can easily identify with.

there are two different member classes for you to join, which both have different abilities & capabilities enabled that are explained as following:
Members
as a Member you will always be well informed about the things going on in here. you can submit your own or others' CAD skins to our "Faves" gallery. after a short voting procedure by our skinners & administrators, your deviation is likely to be applied in there. Members can also invite people to also join our group.
membership requests will automatically be accepted.
Skinners
the minimum requirement to join as a Skinner is that you have created at least one CAD skin. your joinrequests are subject to vote by our administrators & skinners. once accepted you'll be able to vote on new gallery submissions, join- and affiliation requests, too. besides, you'll have access to our "Back Room" and to our forum in there. Skinners can contribute their and others' work to our galleries and they can invite other deviants to join our group.

CD Art Display 3.0 Beta 1 Build 1504 (10Apr2012)
After a long time and some updates a new beta with a setup.exe is ready.
The main focus in this version was to fix some issues due updates made in both Amazon database and iTunes application.
CD Art Display should work properly again.
In addition, the new Skin Browser is still under development. The Upload feature will be reviewed since some additions are from known skins and not only new and original ones. That's why new skins were not added.
Finally, the idea is to update the translation (a lot of work ahead) and then release CD Art Display 3.0 final.~Carlospr (developer)

FOR WINDOWS 7/VISTA USERS CAD WILL ONLY COPY YOUR CURRENT SKINS AND SETTINGS TO THE NEW FOLDER .
this is a public beta release so if you’re not familiar with what a beta is all about, then wait for the final version.

A New place to gather ideas for the next CAD build
Hello, dear CAD lovers. 
Today (Feb, 24th 2011) Carlos has introduced a new place, where we can gather suggestions and ideas for improvements regarding a new CAD build.
The original post by Carlos can be found here.
As Carlos spoke of "even less time to code CAD", I am not very optimistic if he will release a new build (or the CAD 3.0 final) in the near future.
Not a very bad thing, as the current beta runs pretty stable.
So if you've got any suggestions for a new build, check the entries first, and then write it down at the bottom link.
Regular Members can submit skins now!
Hi my dear CAD community!
We have decided, that we want to increase the interaction with this group for all our regular members.
This means all members (no matter if regular members or skinners) can submit their CAD skins to our group "Gallery Folders" from now on.
Exceptions are the "Featured", Skin of the Month" and the "Slideshow" folders. These are admin exclusive only.
The terms for a submittes skin are equal for all members (same voting count).
To submit your works to the folders, visit our Gallery and click on one of the "+" signs at the end of each folder description, or do it by clicking on the "Submit to a group" link on your deviation page.

OUR GALLERY FOLDERS
newly submitted skins to our gallery can be found in here as well as skins that deserve your attention for a closer look and examination and which sometimes are picked by the group-admins.

a basic album cover and some trackinfos, perhaps slightly spiced up with a frame, glossy coveroverlay or some simple functional elements is a good example for a minimalistic skin.
minimalistic can be a lot things.
nothing too fancy tho ... well, you know it.

these are skins that span the entire desktop like a regular wallpaper and make CD Art Display a fullscreen experience.

Ports are skins that were originally created for other apps such as AveTunes, Bowtie, Xion etc. and then were ported over to be used with CD Art Display.
Ports are often created by using the graphics of another (original) artist.

.. Player-like skins combine many skin elements (i.e. tool-, progress-, volumebar, ratings etc.) in one single interface which resembles of course a regular media player.

a "Freshman" is what we'd usually call someone who is new to something ..
.. someone who is making his/her first steps in designing and/or creating graphics or who is new to CD Art Display in general.
so, "Freshman" Work can be considered a very first skin of a skinner or skins that still reside in some sort of a beginner-state in terms of their overall look and feel.

extraordinary is what we'd usually call a skin which doesn't really fit any other category except for being something far from the average.
extraordinary skins are unique in style and concept and are unlikely to be seen anywhere else before.

hmm, .. what's a Notifier?
.. basically that's a skin that shows basic trackinfos and a cover on a banner-like background.
winamp's "toaster" is a good example for a Notifier.

miscellaneous skins simply wouldn't fit in any of our other skin categories and are listed in here as long as we don't have a better matching category.

so, basically it is not a matter of CAD supporting spotify, but more a matter of whether spotify is willing to support CAD. it's up to them, you know.
and about you mentioning that this our group "has pretty much died out", i do my best to visit and process any possible request or inquiry asap, but when it comes to actually moderating and providing new stuff you're right: it has become awefully quiet around here and i don't make much efforts in terms of maintenance and stuff right now. sorry.

So that I may adjust it to work with "Zune Player"
even if no album art
